Bush to move to $2 million Dallas home

The White House confirmed Thursday that the Bushes have purchased a house in Dallas’ Preston Hollow neighborhood for the couple to live in after his presidency ends in January.

First lady Laura Bush’s office declined to specify where the house is, but it appears likely the couple will live on Daria Place, a cul-de-sac in the upscale neighborhood.

“The president and Mrs. Bush do not have occupancy of the home, and therefore, no additional details will be provided,” spokeswoman Sally McDonough said in a written statement.

The president's accountant in Midland, Robert McCleskey, purchased the house at 10141 Daria Place as a trustee on Oct. 3, according to records on file with the Dallas Central Appraisal District, which values the home at $2,078,660.

Mr. McCleskey, who has handled Mr. Bush’s personal finances for years, declined to say Thursday for whom he purchased the property. The seller, Dallas developer Dan Boeckman, also declined to discuss the transaction when reached by telephone Thursday.

Built in 1959, the home sits on 1.13 acres, has four bedrooms, 4 ½ baths, a wet bar, a fireplace and 8,501 square feet of living space, including 896 square feet of servant quarters.

3. Obama's Chicago home has a similar value. The difference, of course, is
that bush should be in prison.

Give me a break. Laura may live here. Smirky may have other fish to fry.

10. What is this Paraguay thing
I know that I've read some comments here that Bush purchased thousands of acres in Paraguay somewhere.

Are there any ideas on why he did this....I find it so, so odd, even for him.

15. It is odd. No one really knows. At the time of the purchase,
Paraguay had no extradition with the US. There has been a regime change. I don't know how that has played into the Smirk's plans. I really don't look for him to stay here if KKKarl and Dick and Don and David and Karen and Condi and all the rest start getting subpoenaed and indicted. KKKarl said he (KKKarl)would be indicted by Christmas or some such thing. I can only hope that is true.

Plus all the rumors (and they are rumors) of Laura living in a hotel in DC for quite some time now.

19. I am sure they will hear us behind their wall.
And they will need to come out sometime to drive by in their big gas guzzling cars.

I hope I do some day get over this anger. A successful impeachment/criminal trial would do it for me I think.

Smirky probably used his influence to get a low appraisal for a tax advantage.

17. From wiki
In 2006, Preston Hollow Elementary School achieved notoriety after a lawsuit claiming the school's class-assignment policies violated the 1954 Supreme Court Brown v. Board of Education decision. Judge Sam Lindsay ruled in November that the school's practices were not legal because they attempted to keep white students together even if minority students had to be placed in inappropriate courses; this ruling was mis-cited in at least one local paper as indicating that "all-white" classes had been created.<1>
The defendants noted that not a single "whites-only" class existed in the school, and that placement was based on test scores; however, Latino claimants in the suit argued that their children were placed in bilingual or English as a Second Language classes even when test scores suggested they should be in a general education program.<2> The district's attorneys also argued that no harm had been caused to the minority students, prompting the trial judge to write, "The court is baffled that in this day and age, that on what is, essentially, a 'separate but equal' argument."<1> The policies were criticized in the judge's ruling and in subsequent news articles as being an attempt to lessen white flight by attracting more parents from the surrounding, mostly white community to keep their children in the local public system rather than sending them to private schools.

25. Very Preston Hollow-ish
I never liked Preston Hollow. Too many grande ranchero-style homes. Very predictable and boring architecture. High-end cookie cutter.

24. Couldn't afford Highland Park, eh?
However, if the DCAD has it appraised at $2-million it is probably selling for $4 million. That's a tear-down in Highland Park.

29. Preston Hollow has gotten way more posh than HP
The homes are set so far back from the street that there's a measure of privacy. Ross Perot lives there as do many other have mores.

(yeah, I know that's not its real name) for photo ops he'll probably never set foot there again, despite what the article says.
