Cobb County Homes With Obama Signs Vandalized
Wednesday, November 5, 2008 – updated: 5:51 am EST November 6, 2008


COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- Several residents of a Cobb County neighborhood believe someone vandalized their houses and cars early Wednesday morning because of their political leanings.

The attacks all happened near Legacy Park Circle in Kennesaw.

LaBarbara Nattiel and her family were watching Barack Obama’s acceptance speech together.

"It was really a glorious night, it sure was," said Nattiel. "Then I heard, 'Boom, boom, boom.'"

It's was Nattiel’s daughter who realized what was happening.

"And she said, 'Mom, mom, mom! We're being paintballed,'" said Nattiel. "I didn't know what that meant but then we came out and paint was everywhere."

Dozens of paintball shots covered their house and their cars in bright pink splashes.

had watched that damned commercial where the guy paintballs his entire house in blue splotches before his mother comes in and the announcer pronunces "need something" and zooms to painters in the yellow pages...

That commercial absolutely pisses me off, knowing some stupid kid will get the idea to copycat.

A REALLY unsurprised Cobb resident, that is. This is the county that gave America Newt Gingrich - what the hell did people expect? I won't put anything identifying me as a Democrat on my house or cars - I know too many people around here that have been targeted for vandalism for their (Democratic) political beliefs, including one that had her car keyed right through her Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker clear down to the bare metal.

Alas it's entirely believable as well. Cobb County is a hellhole of radioactive repuke racism. I just came back from there this evening with fresh evidence of it myself. I hope the next 8 years open some eyes around there, but I wouldn't count on it.

Those who think the days of the Klan are over in that part of Georgia, have quite another thing coming.... Of course exploitative politicians like Newt Gingrich thrive by stirring up the hate.


I can honestly say that I would not feel safe displaying any bumper sticker or yard signs in that part of Metro Atlanta. Ironically, though, given Kennesaw's "mandatory gun ownership law" (which I assume is still in effect), those vandals were really taking a chance...

Palin's hate speeches and Hannity/ Limpy tapes as evidence of encouraging such attacks. That might stop some of this shit if the party were responsible. I am dreaming

12. I've only visited the place

as my wife's sister lived there a few years ago. There is a sort of Civil War museum of sorts in the middle of Kennesaw. Not everybody would care for it. It has a distinctive Southern bias.
