3.  2, 3 and 8 are the only good ones IMHO.
The others are either dull or fussy. There are some other interesting ones at the link. I like clean lines and dramatic tailoring!

21. I think 3 is best for her. Though 2 is my personal favorite, 3 is better for her.

After Michelle puts it on, that burger'll be flame-broiled!

14. Well, you can "have it your way"...
but they still won't let you "hold the lettuce".

9. My picks/reviews ...
Edited on Wed Dec-03-08 07:27 PM by ColbertWatcher
First off, Sarah Palin pay attention: this is how you get high-end fashion: be successful and the designers will beat a path to your door to give you something original.

Secondly, if this is for the inaugural balls, skirts are out.

Von Furstenberg's first one is very elegant (#8)

Christian Lacroix will have a job in portraiture if the fashion thing doesn't work out (not likely) (#11, #12, #13, #29 and #30)

Props to de la Renta for including the girls (#15)

My favorite: #18: Tracy Reese

Rodart also included the girls, but I hope he (she?) designs better than he (she?) sketches (#19)

Badgley Mischka must believe he (she?) is designing for Condoleezza (#25)

12. My synopsis:
1. Positive. Simple but chic.

2. I don't like her in a sheath. She's a bit too curvy to pull this off.

3. Typical gown - too blah for me.

4. Cruella deVille anyone?

5. Just . . . ugh.

6. I like the jacket, but the dress is too frothy.

7. She appears caught in mid-explosion. No.

8. My favorite. An updated Jackie O number.

9. Didn't we just get rid of the Victorians?

10. Oh Hell No.

13. Apparently, They All Think She Has a 12 Inch Waist?
I think MO will do just fine, using her own taste.

16. Well someone will be doing the design...
That's what these drawings are all about. They're beating a path to her door, all wanting to design clothes for the First Lady. And she has the looks and the stature that makes designers drool!

19. Sure Will
But probably not anyone in the slideshow.

Yet with the exception of Maria Cornejo, her current favorites, as well as a few majors, declined WWD’s request for sketches. Some are loath to presume to offer unsolicited advice, while others, it seems, are definitely in the Inaugural sweepstakes and prefer, or have been asked, to keep their participation low-pro.

Such a great color on her.

She looks good in pretty much anything she puts on, though.
