4. It wouldn't have been so bad if we had checks on where the money is going,
but someone, possibly Sen Bunning is blocking the appointment of the watchdog. Since then Citicorp has used some of the money to buy out a competitor.

8. You make a good point. Many claim progressive credentials but most have been there (D.C.)
too long (RANGEL!!!) to be genuine on "the follow-through" (actual voting).

6. Public campaign financing NEEDS to happen NOW!!!
Get rid of those on the corporate payroll NOW!

Then hopefully we'll have those in congress voting for OUR interests, not lobbyist interests.

11. We need to take corporate lobbyist *institutionalized bribery* completely out of the loop!
I think that it was great that Obama was able to get a different channel of funding through the internet that helped him be more "independent", but even he's taken the sides of clean coal (no doubt because he knows that they are contributing to his campaign AND those in congress who he needs to work with).

This is larger than just what influences Obama. It is about congress too. We need to get it to the point that it isn't "easier" to get money from lobbyists to finance campaigns that almost become a requirement to get reelected, and make these congress critters beholden to them instead of us.

I know that there is the spectre of SCOTUS throwing out the "free speech" reasons for keeping the existing system in place, that some are afraid of trying to take on head on, but we need to get some people to exercise the leadership to make this happen.

If we can get lobbyist money out of the loop, it will make so many other issues that much easier to solve. It is the root cause of the cancer that is in our government today for so many issues.

12. Until we can get rid of Mitch McConnell, there will be no change
in campaign financing. He will do everything in his power to keep it from coming up for a vote.
