Seen from Alexandria VA right around twilight. Cloudless sky. I wasn't sure Jupiter would be visible yet, but it was. I went out later to look at it again. What must the ancients have thought of such a thing?

Truly a gift on the first day of meteorological winter.

Now, everyone Google "equation of time."

It's a refurbished tobacco building. American Tobacco was totally renovated into shops, restaurants, and residential. The Durham Bulls Park is a part of this whole thing too. Link:

51. I didn't
move here until 1987. I bet Hillsborough Road looks completely different than it would've in 1972!

I do a little local blog, and tonight I went to the opening our new fancy-schmancy arts center. Downtown is being revitalized like crazy. My blog: http://durhambullpen.blogspot.com/

Funny little tidbit, Durham County went for Obama at 78% on Nov. 4th, even higher than Cook County, IL at 76%. We're deep, deep blue here. :fistbump:

35. I can't wait until August 21, 2017.
It will be the first full solar eclipse in the lower 48 states since 1979. I remember playing hooky from school to watch the 1979 eclipse in its partiality.

This time I'm going to travel to the area of totality.

47. I'm in Omaha. A while ago my son and I were out (hour and a half or so)
and he looked up and he pointed and said "are those stars?" I remembered that I saw something about this on Star Gazer or whatever it is I watch on Saturday night on PBS. Well, they talked about it and luckily I retained something. I told him that they were planets. But, I told him they were Mercury and Venus. I have to straigten him out as to the facts I guess.

But anyway, it was BEAUTIFUL. It was sweet. I'm glad we saw it.
