1. This poll scares me. I'm too paralyzed to vote.

3. I fear that the McVeighs are about to roar.
They were quiet for the last eight years, because they had a friend in the White House.

NRA/GOPers like McVeigh will speak soon.

4. This poll choice is silly:
I have no fear of terrorism because I live in an out of the way location with few potential targets.

As everyone knows, how far away someone lives from a metropolitan area that is a potential target for terrorism is directly proportional to that person's fear of terrorism.

6. It was partly humor.
Have you not noticed that people who live way out in the middle of nowhere tend to place a disproporionately high priority on "fighting terrorism", while New Yorkers tend to be far more moderate about it?

7. I've noticed it, and it frustrates me to no end
People like Bush use the disaster that befell NYC and other parts of the country to further their political agenda, when they don't even give two shits about this state or its people

11. Why don't they ask New Yorkers and other urbanites their opinions
Edited on Mon Dec-01-08 04:40 PM by quantessd
about DEFENDING OUR FREEDOMS!!!!1 :eyes:

Neocons who have near ZERO threat of being victims of international terrorism scream the loudest about it. Yet urbanites who have the greatest statistical chance of being victims of international terrorism seem to take the risk in stride.

The last thing that right wing wackadoos who live 50 miles from the nearest town want to do is ask New Yorkers how frightened they are of terrorism, even though 9-11 happened in the middle of NYC.

Of course, the few liberals and moderates live 50 miles from the nearest town may have a more balanced set of priorities than the RWers.

13. Okay, so my theory isn't perfect. But, I wasn't referring to Democrats or liberals anyway.
Specifically, neocons who live 50 miles from the nearest town are the most fearful of terrorist attacks.

In a near-rural portion of my state.

They are scared spitless of "terrorists".

10. Plus, no matter where you live, radiation will find you, unless you are already living
in an underground bunker somewhere, stocked up with food for years.

Oh, and for the freepers: This doesn't mean you are safe in your mom's basement with a 10-year supply of Cheetos and Mountain Dew.

8. It's not "terrorists" who set aside the constitution and instituted domestic spying.
Edited on Mon Dec-01-08 04:31 PM by TexasObserver
The US government and its shadowy contractors are the only real threat to the freedom of Americans. A bunch of fucking goat herders in the Mideast are not going to threaten America. Only a government that abuses the constitution can do that.

Still true today. I fear the way fear has been used by political leaders to manipulate the public.
