what with sweetie and now girly dog.

does he worry about his manhood around a girly dog - whatever a girly dog is.

and don't start mentioning the women he has hired. we women would have made and will make trouble if he doesn't hire enough women. this he knows.

girly bothers me.

he carried around a bk. on Lincoln, lets see him with a bk on Fem. Phil.

3. Did DU lose it's sense of humor?

The man might as well go into a bubble so he doesn't offend anyone.

14. a LOOOONG time ago, I'm afraid...
but it is a valid discussion point...

aside from the fact that I find foo foo dogs abhorent...the moniker of "girlie" and similar terms to define a lesser quality or defect is a problem and one that begs for a resolution in a totally equitable society...

2. I'm a feminist but I also have a sense of humor

And I think he was kidding. He's not dense, nor is he a chauvinist nor is he callous and thoughtless and it's quite obvious he adores his women who are all strong and smart. Now if Bush were to use the girly dog comment it would be just another brain fart.

For me there are far more important things that need attention from feminists than imagined slights where there are none.

7. Should he get lectured about using the word mutt and comparing it to himself?
Edited on Fri Nov-28-08 12:16 PM by lunatica
Wouldn't that offend pure race racists of all races out there?

10. This is for his daughters.
Hey, my daughter doesn't like girly stuff either. Good for her. Saves us a lot of money.

By the way, the next time words like sweetie and girly bother you, think about some other words like Scalia, Thomas, Alito and Roberts, and how now you won't have to hear another of those words.

16. I agree with Obama on this one.
Since I rarely agree with him, it's good to speak up when I do. ;)

I think his terminology is wrong. Those little yappy dogs? I would have probably called them "city dogs," "lap dogs," or "dogs for fancier places and people." I prefer bigger dogs myself.

In reality, I like all dogs. I wish I could find a small breed with the same temperament, athleticism, and stamina as the larger dogs I prefer. I never have, though.

I think they ought to rescue a greyhound, myself. Not small, but fine for people with allergies, quiet, and affectionate.

I've loved all my dogs, regardless of breeding. For my lifestyle, I need a dog that gets along with farm and ranch animals; chicken killers, horse chasers, etc. would be a big problem. My aussie is great, but wouldn't fit the white house or an allergic family.

Perhaps the Obama's should compromise, and get a standard poodle. Non-allergenic and good with kids, calmer than the smaller "yappers," and, when fashionably groomed, fits well in elite circles, lol.
