We all remember the 19 "terrorists" that attacked us on 09-11-01. We recall the boxcutters they used to carve up a few people on the planes -just for examples- before they crashed them into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Immediately, we went after Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of al Qaeda.
It was unfortunate that all this was happening as this Administration was already giving out huge tax cuts to the wealthy. So we would just have to fight this war with borrowed money, they said. Then, it expanded to Iraq and the eventual spending of over $5 TRILLION dollars in the search for victory over these "terrorists".
In the process, our entire financial system collapsed. It was not unconnected from the spending on the war on terror. The dollar dropped. The credit markets dried up. The American were asked to contribute to save all these international financial giants from ruin. Our FED and our FDIC and the White House and all our politicians got involved to make sure they got what they asked for.
As our economy lay in ruin, the "terrorists" were busy in India, by way of Pakistan. So I wonder...Who won the war on terror? How many more windmills can we afford to attack?
