MSNBC Poll: Should the term "In God We Trust" be removed from our currency.
It's not that the poll exists that bothers me but the email that announced it.

Here's your chance to let the media know where the people stand on our
faith in God, as a nation. NBC is taking a poll on "In God We Trust" to
stay on our American currency. Please send this to every Christian you
know so they can vote on this important subject. Please do it right
away, before NBC takes this off the web page.

Poll is still open so you can vote. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10103521/
This is not sent for discussion, if you agree forward it, if you don't, delete it.
By me forwarding it, you know how I feel. I'll bet this was a surprise to NBC.

I am a firm believer in the separation of chuch and state. Think this poll needs some DU love?

9. Oh, yeah. Or rather, different god for each level of currency.
And they can't forget the chick-gods either. I want the 20 to say "In Isis we trust" because she was hot on that TV show.

5. Our money used to be backed with gold
Then it was backed with silver.
Now all it says is "In God We Trust"
We can see how much good that's done.

19. It's ironic
that we put that motto on the thing that so many "Christians" really worship.

6. This is just so crazy
What on earth is wrong with Americans that they need to interject "God" and flag lapel pins simply everywhere? Is that the only way they can feel religious and patriotic? To make OTHERS notice and have mentions of the both spread around like a plague?

34. Insecurity
The GOP is basically an apocalyptic suicide cult that is controlled by fear. I try not to mistake them for 'christianity.'

8. Just in time for freeper Thanksgiving dinner...
Nice of MSNBC to manufacture a problem, where none exists.

Who in the world said anything about removing "In God We Trust"? Only MSNBC.

Just in time for the freeper Thanksgiving dinners--where they can all sit around
the table with Jell-O salad falling out of their mouth-as they rant about the evil
libruls who hate God and anyone who believes in God.

A hate-fest within a feast.

18. I'm assuming the email didn't come from NBC. ?
I would respond to this email & I would click "Reply All." I would make these points:

1. Why did the person who sent this want only Christian's to take part in the poll? It gives the impression that they don't want those who disagree with them to voice their opinion.

2. How does taking this motto off of our currency diminish one's trust in god?

3. Point out that the motto wasn't always on our currency. I think that many people are not aware of this fact. http://www.skepticfiles.org/atheist/coinageg.htm

4. Finally, include the text of the First Amendment, & cite from which document it came.

Now I'm off to give the poll my love, as you say! ;)

Wow, 82% say leave it on. :eyes:  :eyes:  :eyes:

25. We should balance the budget by renting the space for ads for multinational companies.
God Inc. is probably a multinational company, but it isn't paying for the free promotion. Get Exxon or some other giant to give some of that money back to the American taxpayer. They can give us a billion and in exchange our money for 2009 will say "In Exxon We Trust"
