A Reminder:

MUMBAI, India - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh praised this wounded city for its strength Wednesday, vowing that “no one can make India kneel,” while a senior investigator said the Mumbai train attacks that killed at least 200 people could be linked to a Kashmiri militant group.

A Foreign Ministry official demanded that Pakistan dismantle all terrorist networks on land it controls — but fell short of directly accusing India’s nuclear-armed rival for the attacks.

Singh highlighted the achievements of this city of 16 million, which staggered back to life despite attacks on the commuter train network Tuesday that killed at least 200 people and wounded more than 700.

“Your resilience and resolve will triumph over the evil designs of the merchants of death and destruction,” Singh said in a televised speech. “Let me say again, no one can make India kneel. No one can come in the path of our progress.”

This was the day after the bombings in Mumbai on 7/11/06. I remember being impressed with their resilience. Anyone thinking that they are rash people that will devolve into nuclear war doesn't understand the strength of the people of India.

1. I'm not surprised that people are talking about nuclear war
If the last few years have proven anything, it's that people are addicted to their fears, whatever they may be.

4. Sorry
I don't usually do well at articulating myself... so I usually lurk.

I thought the point of the OP was that they *didn't* start talking about nuclear war... so I was confused by rockymountaindem's reply.

5. No need to lurk
The OP is trying to address the few people around here who are expressing a fear that this terrorist attack will somehow be linked to Pakistan, because they fear that might prompt a showdown leading to nuclear war between India and Pakistan. The OP is trying to point out that India, it's leadership and people, are far too smart to be dragged into anything like that and that contrary to some peoples' perceptions India is not some primitive country with a blood vendetta against Pakistan.

I'm saying that it isn't surprising to me that people would immediately start talking about nuclear war because everybody's just addicted to their fears, it seems.

6. Thanks RMD
Guess I should read a few more threads before responding. :)

Doesn't surprise me though, that after eight years of being led by fear, many people's responses are fear based.

Thanks for clarifying.
