Fundies: eHarmony "sells out to homosexuals"

from the American Family Assn.'s OneNewsNow:

eHarmony sells out to homosexuals
Allie Martin - OneNewsNow - 11/25/2008 7:30:00 AM

A pro-family activist says it appears the dating site eHarmony is more concerned about potential court costs than standing up for Biblical values.

The website eHarmony.com was founded by Dr. Neil Clark Warren and has been known for providing resources to strengthen long-term relationships and marriages. Dr. Warren is a professing Christian who has had several books published by Focus on the Family.

Recently, eHarmony agreed to begin matching same-sex couples. That decision was part of a New Jersey lawsuit settlement. Three years ago, a homosexual filed a lawsuit against eHarmony, claiming he was the victim of discrimination when the company refused to accept his advertisement for a same-sex partner.

That lawsuit resulted in a state investigation into the dating service, which was spearheaded by the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights. Peter LaBarbera is president of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality and says Christians need to respond.

"Tell them that this is a terrible decision, and we hope this is going to hurt their bottom line," he notes. "Again, this is a time of testing for Christians, and you've got to stand and defend truth. American freedom will die if we let it be driven down to nothing by the courts."

As part of the settlement, eHarmony will pay $50,000 in court costs. The homosexual who filed the complaint will receive $5,000, and eHarmony will also hire a media consultant to better reach the homosexual marketplace.

6. eHarmony is a scam...most people don't read Warren's interviews.
eHarmony is nothing more than a dangled carrot. When Warren participates in one of his periodic interviews, the truth comes out. eHarmony "isn't for everyone," and a relatively small percentage of people actually find a partner that they'll stay with.

Like every other dating site, eHarmony is packed to the rafters with the walking wounded. All kinds of baggage. And yes, I tried a membership. Actually met a couple of my "matches" face-to-face. Decided that I'll find the woman of my dreams the old fashioned way...by living my life.

I'm all for breaking down barriers. I'm straight, and if my gay brothers & sisters find REAL love on eHarmony, more power to 'em.

:toast:

7. Oh! That Must Be Part Of The Gay Agenda!
I've been hearing about that agenda for years now. Apparently, it requires taking over an internet dating site! That seems needlessly obtuse!

8. Sooo, why not pay their costs?
I mean, if the American Family Association is so busted up about this, why didn't they offer to pay eHarmony's court costs? Surely you can't put a price tag on biblical values, can you? What's a measly half million, anyway? Come on, Dr. Dobson! Put a little money where your mouth is! I'm sure all the employees you're laying off would support your decision.

Or does Focus on the Family prefer to make the baby Jesus cry?

9. This is a time of testing for Christians? Illegals wars, torture, not caring for the
neediest for the needy don't rank, but who's meeting up with whom does?

*sigh*

12. Biblical values don't belong on the internet
Also "the homosexual" Sounds to derogatory I can hardly stand it. Can you even imagine someone say "The black man" like that?

13. The AFA purposely avoids all use of the word "gay" and have set their editing system up as such....
In stories about the Olympics, the idiots changed runner Tyson Gay's name to Tyson Homosexual.

14. I just voted in their poll, choosing "Dr. Warren does not believe homosexuality
is a sin." :)

Wish they also had an opinion poll regarding those phony eHarmony commercials they trot out that make you want to stick hot pins into your eyes to feel something good.

16. Did they take their word filter to an AP story again?
All "Gay" to "Homosexual"?

The AFA sure is moving fast towards no rights at all for anyone who is gay by the tone of their material.
