Poll question: Which political/economic theory should be given a second chance?
Yesterday, I asked my fellow DUers to post which theory (economic or political) they believed should be given a second chance (the original thread is here).

There seemed to be more political and economic theories, I copied then pasted all of them here in poll form for you to vote on. If there is one you want to vote for that you don't see, you can post it in reply.

Which theory should be given a second chance?

A. Keynesian economics
Duer Jackpine Radical suggests Keynesian economics

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keynesian_economics">Wikip*dia link for Keynesian economics)

B. Marxism
DUer Warpy's interesting explanation for short-term Marxism

C. Demarchy
DUer anonymous171, baby suggests Demarchy

D. Socialism
DUer QuestionAll suggested Socialism

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialism">Socialism from Wikip*dia)

E. Democracy
DUer stillcool47 wonders if Democracy has ever really been tried before.

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy">Democracy from Wikip*dia)

F. the American experiment
DUer TheKentuckian suggested something called "the American experiment".

No link for such a theory exists on Wikip*dia, and DUer TheKentuckian posts that only a "rich white guy beta test" has ever been tried.

G. Democratic Socialism
DUer LostinVA suggests Democratic Socialism

1. Some of these are not mutually exclusive.
Democracy is a form of government. Most of the other options you list are economic models. You can have any of those economic models with a democracy, or a republican democracy, or a theocracy, or a dictatorship, or any other form of government.

Marxism didn't work so well under totalitarian dictatorships, but that doesn't mean it might not work under a democracy.

Democratic socialism (socialism with democracy) is working very well in many parts of the world.

But, I just posted them as they were posted on the other thread.

Plus, people can discuss whether they agree or not on which one to use in this thread.

3. Marxism won't work for the same reason as true free market capitalism wont work
People are naturally greedy animals and rather look out for number one. Marxism, Communism, Socialism all would work amazingly well if people would forgo the need to have "more" than the next guy. They won't work just like we can never have a true free market society because people will abuse it to oblivion (which has happened time and time again). Sad thing to say, but the truth hurts :/

5. There was actually an explanation for Marxism at the link.
Not the Wikip*dia one, but the one from the DUer.
