George W. Bush drinking again
Edited on Mon Nov-24-08 05:31 PM by DogPoundPup
US President George W. Bush drinks a traditional pisco sour. A source of national pride among party-loving Peruvians, the tart, frothy beverage that packs a punch has repeatedly taken center-stage at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum's gathering in the capital Lima.

2. Wonderful.
At least now if someone demands I say something nice about Bush, I can say he has good taste in liquor.

7. Oh please he never was a dry drunk.
All that incoherent rambling that he's done through his term in front of the TV cameras is very much the result of someone whose soused all the time.

8. Again? He never stopped.
The red, flushed face.

The slurred words.

He's an alcoholic, and has been for years. He never stopped, they just covered it up as much as they could. There are other pictures of him consuming what appears to be alcohol at other functions.

One look at his face in that pic you linked to, and it's pretty obvious he's an alcoholic.

32. We KNOW he's an alcoholic;
the issue is whether he's drinking or not. An alcoholic is always an alcoholic, like a diabetic is always a diabetic.

15. Here's the recipe, and after drinking it one better buckles up:
For best results, sugar the glass, and use shaker w/ice

Peruvian Recipe
First, Pisco Sour is the Peruvian National Drink.
Second, the recognized Peruvian Bartenders Association gives the following official pisco sour recipe:

3oz of Pisco, 1oz lemonjuice, 1oz sugar syrup, 1 albumen (white part of egg), in a mixer, shake with ice (ice must not melt), serve without ice.
==================================================

Yeah, I had forgotten about Pisco Sour. I was lucky enough to be in Peru in the mid seventies, and I loved it so much I schlepped several bottles of Pisco home to keep up drinking it as long as I could.

What Bush is drinking in the picture posted looks like Pisco Sour, and believe me, no non-drinking person should touch the stuff.
The jet - step photo is from my files.

14. Untreated drunks have a really poor prognosis
and it doesn't matter how much they love Jesus. Without AA or a similar group and a great deal of peer support, education and guidance, they will pretty much all start drinking again.

All Jesus does is encourage them to hide the bottles a little better, often from themselves.

His hell will be drinking himself to death out of office, whether or not he's ever called to account for his crimes. I've watched family members do that and it is hell. Drinking stopped being fun many years ago. He is just incapable of stopping because he's never learned to live without it.

19. Not all have a poor prognosis
I was a drunk for too many years. I tried AA, but that was so depressing, I drank more. Plus, ain't no way I'm giving myself over to a "higher power".

I quit all by myself seven plus years ago. I have had absolutely no desire to drink any type of alcohol. No shakes, no white knuckling just very happy not to have to deal w/hangovers any longer.

23. Not all problem drinkers are alcoholics, either.
Perhaps I should have made the distinction clearer.

Alcoholics have the poor prognosis.

24. What consitutes an alcoholic?
I drank for years and at the lowest times, it was from the moment I awoke until I passed out for the day.

IMHO, the screed that no one can successfully quit w/o AA or some other program is bullshit.

27. You won't get very far by trying to disprove a statistical norm
by citing one anomaly.

The prognosis for untreated alcoholics is poor.

If you were an alcoholic and you managed to quit without any help whatsoever, then I bow to your innate superiority.

However, most can't.

It's common knowledge that he's a "recovering" alcoholic. And yet the media has pictured him NUMEROUS times drinking, and they always just act very casually about it, as if he's just sampling the local cuisine. The giant elephant in the room is the fact that if he's a recovering alcoholic, why is he drinking at all? I've known recovering alcoholics who refused to put vanilla in their baking because of the alcohol content, and yet it's no big deal when W the drunk is "sampling" local spirits whenever he's traveling the world pretending to president.

The caption shouldn't be "oh look, Georgie is having a taste of a local favorite," it should be "Bush caught taking a drink."

Makes me think the next one will be a picture of Bush passed out with a caption of "President Bush catches some much-needed shut-eye at the bottom of an antique staircase. The stairs date back to the 14th century blah blah blah...."
