Can we get a list of every Democrat that praised and lauded Ted Stevens today?
Edited on Thu Nov-20-08 10:12 PM by CreekDog
If any of my Senators did that, I would like to write them and tell them:

1. He is a convicted criminal
2. They didn't need to stand today to condemn him, but as my representative I don't think they should be praising unrepentant felons.
3. I can forgive this time, but I expect better next time (if I cut them loose now, what's my leverage later?).
4. It shows poor judgement to praise a Senator convicted of felonies in the course of his Senate service (using his Senate influence).
5. It says that if you are in the Senate, you belong to a club which regular laws that apply to the rest of us do not apply to Senators. Senators who praised Stevens have endorsed this presumption. They shouldn't.

My two cents.

3. You know, he may have sucked, but 40 years deserves something.
As much as I can't stand some of these assholes, I think there is a time and place for, for lack of a better word, being phony. Simply shaking his hand, giving him a sendoff, and being polite.

He should have been gone a long time ago. A hideous creature.

But somewhere in my heart, either I'm a fool, or something. Because I just can't see being mean.

Now get the hell out of Congress. Disappear.

10. I cannot agree with you here - This is why there is no respect for these people any more!
They should not have stood for this kind of behavior. A polite scattering of applause perhaps but not a standing ovation! I think this just shows how out of touch these "law makers" are when they stand and applaud a convicted felon! If you or I did what Stevens did we would not have been allowed to run for office, and I don't care how long his was there.

11. In other times and places, "service" such as Stevens rendered
was rewarded with a rope around the neck.

13. What was I drinking last night!
I've regained my senses. Thank goodness he's gone. Brighter days are ahead, hopefully.

Rope, indeed. Bridge to nowhere. Good lord.

5. "It says that if you are in the Senate, you belong to a club"
Have you been in a coma since, well, forever!?!

Of course it's a club and politicians fight like hell to get in! Stop thinking of politicians as someone you should admire. They aren't.
