Poll question: Whither the Republicans?
Hopefully, a serious discussion void of "They will be consigned to Hell or Texas", one-liners. But, this being DU, who am I to limit commentary?

if it became the Party of Lincoln.

Even the Party of Nixon would be a big step forward.

4. More 'libertarian' while remaining the same socially
Wherever High Finance forces the party to.
The reason they will retain socially conservative policies is because many socalled Fiscal Far-rigth people (who claim to be socially liberal) like Ron Paul are socially conservative actually albeit not bringing GOD into it .

5. They will continue to run rightwing wackos who pretend to be moderates with the
help of the rightwing noise machine and the corporate media, and they'll continue to organize rightwing voters with their familiar hate and fear tactics. They've been playing these games for decades: what would make them change now? If we want to keep beating them, we have to keep working
