1. I'm thinking about buying an engine lathe
I've always wanted a lathe.

If I had a lathe, I'd run it in the morning.
I'd run it in the evening, all over this land!
I'd turn out freedom,
I'd bore out justice,
I'd thread-cut love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land!

33. I have had a vertical milling machine for many years
I don't use it very often but when I do I am always glad to have it.

Of course there are many things it can't do, some of which happen to be things a lathe is perfect for.

I think everyone should have a trade or some other skill that is unrelated to what they do for a living, in case things get really bad. My SHTF/TEOTWAWKI trade is machine work.

I received that in email.

He has some good points, but it's interesting to note the attitude towards labor.

9. Mittens is already campaigning for 2012. Read the comments -
they are a hoot. Especially the one making fun of his dad's company that made the Gremlins.

American Motors as an example? I've had several people say they loved Gremlins.....I don't remember much about them.

to shelter under. We plan to spend as little as possible.

All that depresses consumption, dampens production, increases unemployment and generally pushes the bottom deeper.

But and this is a very important BUT, in a depression economy where asset value is crashing, it is CASH you want. Cash is going to accrue in value, cash is what we want and need. In a year a dollar is going to buy more than a quarter cup of Starbucks coffee.

15. I know what to do. The gov't needs to raise capital and there's only one group that has it
and it ain't anyone on this board. Its called the wealthy, and the oil companies. AND its time to end the wars. Screw the Middle East. They're all going to blow themselves to Kingdom Come anyway.
