The Rachel Maddow Show was markedly improved last night...
...Not only is Alison Stewart's delivery far better than Ariana Huffington's, but she is mighty easy on the eyes.

Beautiful, smart and leftist, talk about sexy....whew!

2. Although she was a tad tongue-tied and, frankly, out of practice
I'm happy to see her, or Arianna, any time Rachel's off cruisin'.

10. No, deliberately misunderstanding and being an ass is the most important thing.
As you've clearly showed.

12. Do you really think "sexy" is an adjective that belongs in a critique of a news/comment show?

17. That's not a trait that male hosts are expected to have. nt

18. You know, I was just quoting Spinal Tap
Some of the irony was intentional.

In other words, sure, I can think of reasons why it's wrong to go on about a tv commentator's sexual attractiveness.

19. Yes, but folks DO say this seriously.
On a scale of 1-10, I'd rate Allison 11!

Also, no one does snark better than Alison!

MSNBC, please bring her back, not just as a sub, okay?

7. Am I understanding you correctly?

I've missed Rachel all this week except for last night. Are you saying that Ariana Huffington substituted for Rachel on Monday?

As much as I like Alison, I like her much more on KO for some reason. I didn't think she did that well last night on Rachel's show.

8. She did ok. Remember, her radio show ended last summer
From what I can tell of a quick scan of wiki, last night's appearance may have been her first on-air gig in awhile.

She flubbed a few lines, no biggie. Obviously she's slicker at this than Arianna (although I thought Ms. Huff did just fine, too.)

11. She mentioned that she hosts an NPR show daily

So I don't think it was a lack of practice.

Maybe the teleprompter/script is formatted for Rachel's preferences, and Alison just wasn't used to it yet. Or maybe she simply wasn't comfortable yet with the cadences of Rachel's reporting. That could take a bit to get used to. Rachel has a lot more ironic questions in her delivery, while Keith tends to declarative statements. :)

21. Last night she mentioned that she was on Talk of the Nation
but I went to their website, no mention of her. So I'm not sure what she's up to these days.

Anyway, she was really good last night, hope MSNBC or another TV network has a place for her.
