Then I read this column in our morning paper by David Broder saying it was a terrible idea. (Still looking for a link).

Now I know - it's a great idea.

Thank you Mr. Broder for convincing me.

1. Hitchens thinks it is "beyond the pale"
too

Anything those two idiots disagree with, I have to re-think

4. Hitchens? Whenever he wants a little attention, he makes it a point to
say something wildly controversial. I've seen that piece replayed at least a dozen times. It'll fade by the end of the week and I predict that in a few weeks he'll get tired of being a nobody, get himself a spot on morning joe, and say some else totally off the wall. The man's an asswipe.

2. So do a bunch of people from the center (Marti Peretz, David Ignatius to the far left

Robert Perry, Budowski). During the same time, the RW (including, but not only Eagleburger and Kissinger) and the Fox people seem to love the idea.

Once in a while, Hitchens and Broder could be right.

5. I have no idea what Hillary would have to offer Obama on foreign policy. None.

9. Nothing but a circus and distraction. This makes me think Obama is not serious about foreign policy.
Or he isn't really looking to change anything.

12. I think he's serious about foreign policy, but doesn't take the SoS role
very seriously. Maybe he doesn't think it's worth all that much, since he and Biden have foreign policy pretty well covered between the two of them (and Kerry as head of SFRC)?
