There should be another update between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. our time -- that's 8:00-9:00 eastern time.

11. I did read where most of those votes were coming from Anchorage
Let's hope Alaska's big city is like the lower 48 big cities - blue heaven!

I'm not sure how many are left to count,
but there will be an update later this afternoon. For an automatic recount here, the vote has to be actually tied. The state will pay for a recount if either party requests one and the totals are within .5% of each other -- my understanding is the magic number ia 1600.

Even if the spread is wider than that, either party can request a recount if they're willing to pay for it.

21. I think they said 10,000 left, and about 3/4 of that should be
available later this evening.

5. I'm curious... why haven't there been calls for donations and support for Begich, as
there have been for Franken?

Curious...

30. Also unless the lead is under 1600, there's not likely to be a recount.
So unlike the deal with Franken, this won't go on much longer.

15. Obviously you are not Alaskan nor know much about the state.
 Ted Stevens has been a good Senator for Alaska for more than four decades.. He will be missed but his time is over..

19. For what it's worth, WinterBlues, I agree with you,
but I'm obviously an Alaskan, too. I think it's tragic that he lost his way after doing so much for the state and for so many individual Alaskans (myself included), as well.

17. Yes I know that, but the situation being what it is, that is highly doubtful
I think it is pretty much a done deal and Alaska has a Democratic Senator once again. The last ones were Bartlett and Gruening I believe, and that was around Statehood..Change is a coming..

How COULD you? Gravel served from 1974 to 1980. He was senator when I moved up here, along with Ted.

22. I'll be really surprised if he serves any time at his age,
which is fine with me. All I cared about was finally getting a Democratic senator again. It's been 28 years since Mike Gravel left the Senate.

24. How the fuck can it even be THAT close with a convicted criminal running?
Actually...I have a feeling that if Duke Cunningham was allowed to run from prison in his old district here in Cali, he would probably pull out a win.

I'll just shut the fuck up now.
