ABC News: Iraqi-U.S. Soldiers' Fight Leads to Shoot-Out

http://abcnews.go.com/International/story?id=6237298&page=1

An Iraqi Soldier Was Shot Dead After He Opened Fire on Joint Patrol With U.S.

An Iraqi soldier has shot dead four U.S. soldiers and wounded three others while out on patrol in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, according to the Iraqi Interior Ministry.

An Interior Ministry source told ABC News, on condition of anonymity, that an argument broke out between the Iraqi soldier, Barazen Mohammed, and an American colleague while they were on a joint patrol in western Mosul.

This argument escalated into a physical fight with the U.S. soldier apparently slapping the Iraqi, the source said. Mohammed was so angered that he opened fire on a group of Americans, killing four of them and wounding four others. Mohammed was then shot and killed, the source says.

It was not immediately clear whether the American soldier who reportedly slapped Mohammed was among the casualties.

A U.S. military spokesman confirmed to ABC News that "there was a fire fight in Mosul."

2. They better put an end to joint patrols.
I lived with a Shiite in college. Nice kid, but he had a hair trigger and went nuts when he felt insulted. If bad blood breaks out between our troops and theirs and if it has anything to do with religion, look out.

I mean his country has only been occupied by the US for the past 5+ years, killed 100's of thousands of his country men, drove it's meager economy into the toilet, turned whole areas of the nation into radiation zones with DU, drove out a huge portion of the population to find shelter in other nations and created a massive divide between the two major religions in the nation, but heck I mean what was he thinking?

:sarcasm:

4. What would give that GI the idea he could just slap someone?
Is that one of our American core values?
