For anyone interested, here's a link to the full South Park "Election" episode:

Yeah... I know that Parker and Stone are not always the most popular guys around here politically, nevertheless, I still found this episode pretty amusing.

2. that episode aired less than 24 hours after the election was called
They did the last bit of dialog after the McCain concession speech and the Obama acceptance speech, as was obvious. Pretty amazing.

Just ridicule of progressives? Did you watch the whole episode? The McCain supporters get trashed too.

20. The Emergency Room was a scream!!
McCain supporters over here and Obama supporters over there.

The McCain supporters have all tried to kill themselves and the Obama supporters have partied too hard!

That's just damn funny!

7. It was funny as hell
You have obama supporters partying till they hurt themselves, thinking that all their problems are behind them.

You have McSame supporters holing themselves in caves, ready for the worst, and the ones left over, killing themselves.

You have a hospital with two docs, one drunk, the other, well, he killed himself.

Then you have Obama and McSame themselves, confirming our suspicions that McSame was playing to lose, with Phailin (with a british accent, no less) as the techhie.

Funny. Biting. And to my values, evenhanded.

9. There has to be a "McCain wins" episode out there somewhere, right?
That was pretty awesome.

10. probably not...
they probably did the parts of the episode that didn't matter who won ahead of time- and they would have been mostly the same, except for some dialog. the stuff about obama winning was probably done fairly last-minute- (they've done that kind of thing in the past) they even included obama's line about the girls getting a puppy from the acceptance speech the night before.

so- there may be some extra mccain footage/scene(s), in case he had won- but it probably wasn't much, wasn't totally finished, and probably didn't have complete dialog either..

13. They risked the chance of an Obama win and had a alternative ending
If he had not. The ending would have been a Dewey beats Truman type ending.

There was a write up, I think, on Huffington Post or somewhere that someone pointed it out
on how they got to the episode completed so fast.

I liked the episode but still think their World of Warcraft and Guitar Hero episodes
have been the best and funniest so far. This episode I found humorous

I drank too much celebrating that night too and my republican, faux watching neighbor curled up in his cave
and didn't come out for two days. So that wasn't too far from reality. LOL

15. they have a history of being able to get topical episodes done very quickly...
in past election cycles(this is their 3rd presidential election since the show started) and iirc- they did an elian gonzalez episode that aired within a day or two of that situation being resolved.

24. animation the day after the election
Could you provide a link to that huffington post write up? I'm interested to know how this episode developed.

While most of the episode revolved around the 'oceans 11' team, a lot of it was from Obama's point of view. He was the one breaking in. So if mccain had won, it would've had to be him in most of the scenes.

I imagine, they probably animated scenes with both candidates, just in case. Maybe they had a scene with the republicans of South Park partying in the streets

14. NO!
Think about it.. You had the entire opening and closing scenes; plus Obama people would be partying if we lost, and McCain people wouldn't have been killing themselves, or hiding in caves...

At least half of that was unusable with a McCain victory.

12. That's not Barack Obama, that's Bill Cosby!
Stinging commentary, that episode... partly accurate, but it is a gross generalization for both sides... in more than one sense of the word "gross".

The McCain/Obama hand slap was obvious too.

However, is it funny? Nope. Tedious topical commentary that doesn't know what to go do with itself, except to add a fictional subplot about nicking a fancy diamond.

I did stop after the 09:04 mark.

And little Ike doesn't have a clue, not at that age. But I'm sure there's an underlying reason to Ike wanting to jump and break an ankle...

16. This was actually the South Park *bailout* episode.
It sure was funny. I'll bet I would have enjoyed it even more had I seen Ocean's Eleven, which I assume it was parodying.
