and more people said they wanted to hear about Sarah's adventures in Alaska than didn't, so I'm still posting Palin stories. I'm making an effort to post only things that I think are relevant on a national level. You can try to ignore her, but she's not going away. I think it's better to keep an eye on her.

15. The more attention DUers give her, the more power she is given.
She has enough interest from "her base" to add our base to that gives her a lot of power. The media will stop giving her attention, which will weaken her power, when the blogs stop.
How can someone be a threat when they are anti-intellectual following one of the most intellectual administrations in our Nation's history ?
How can someone be a threat when there is no way they could get 51% ?
I wish I did not have to come on DU and see the her name. I do not open the posts, but still I see the titles. I do wish that I could come to our base here and be free of hearing about her. And, it is my right to express my needs and opinions, and I understand that there are others here that have a need to continue to give Palin energy. I just think it is counterproductive to the ultimate objective.

26. Well like Palin
rather than speak in terms of objective fact, you choose to characterize those you take to task. " others...have the need to give Palin energy" is just your opinon, just as my opinion is that you are seeking to give Palin cover and distract from the embarassment that is her candidacy. Over 60% of Republicans want her to run in 2012. Blame them if you don't want to hear about her, blame McCain and the GOP, even blame Alaskan voters for putting her in that place, but to call for silence in the face of her attacks and slanders strikes me as something only a person on her side would desire.
Your objective here is to silence those who bug you? And what will that gain for you? Folks like you wanted to ignore Palin when she got the nomination, and still seem to lust for Palin to be off limits.
So I understand that you have a need to continue playing defense for Palin, but I just think tat is suspect. Your assumptions are not my assumptions. She's wildly popular with her side, she's Gov of a state in my region, and she just might go to the US Senate. Unless we prevent that by keeping the light of day on her and her future plans as well as her past scandals and slanders.
I think you are as wrong as wrong can be, and you are unable to make a point that stands alone without script writing about other people's 'needs' and such.
You say she's powerless. I say she holds an office that makes her one of 50 out of 300 million. If that's powerless, I'm Spiro Agnew.

32. My choice of focus right now is President-Elect Obama and the excitement of his administration !
I respect that you feel differently. With the exception of this post, I do not choose to give Palin the power of my attention right now. I had enough of her during the election. I think she is dangerous and highly manipulative, and the people behind her, the same neocons involved in The Project for a New American Century, "were" even more so dangerous and have done great harm to our country. They have been weakened.

I am praying that the brilliance and light of Obama will, even more so with his Presidency, continue to weaken this right wing extremism. She is a person that in my worst nightmares I would not want to see come into a place of high National power. I said this about George W. Bush, and I find her even worse...can not believe that is possible.
This is the reason I want to diffuse the power of attention she is getting. It is just my strategy.

It is your choice to continue to pay attention to her, and I said I respect that there are people here on DU that have a need to do that and feel their strategy is to keep an eye on her. I can see she has power, we are discussing her, and I choose not to continue to feed in to it. Which after this thread, I will not.

I am entitled to have a different opinion, it does not mean I am being attacking or trying to silence anyone. I can have my feelings on it, and you can have your feelings, without having to attack someone for being different.

For me right now there is too much to be excited about and to look forward to in the next four years with President Obama !!!! That is where I want my energy and attention to go.
You can attack me all you want, it is ok. I can see you have strong feelings about this. She is scary, and I can understand people wanting to keep an eye on her.

Maybe in four years, I will be more inclined to want to discuss her when it becomes an issue in an election again. Though I see her as ridiculous when it comes to truly being able to win, and she is a made up candidate not having the skills or depth for National office. I in no way meant to be attacking, and I am sorry if you took it that way.

17. Why do people feel the need to censor others here? No one's forcing you
to read threads about her.

Almost 2/3 of Republicans now, according to recent polls, think that she'll be the 2012 nominee. We ignore her at our peril.

24. Palin, like any other Republican, remains a valid object of criticism.
Why bother criticizing any Republican then, after all "we" won last week? What makes Palin immune? Her attacks on Obama were, by far, more vicious than McCain's, even provoking threats on his life. She remains dangerous as long as Republicans take her seriously.

25. Are you Todd Palin?
Or Sarah's pr hack? I mean, what is your objective here, why do you care if people post about this woman who is preening for further adventures in DC? Palin is the single most disgusting politician I have ever seen in my life. Nixon left a bad impression of Republicans, with Palin, I felt they insulted the country and made a mockery of the process.
No sir, giving money to the Alaska Democrats and following this hate monger like a shadow is what needs to be done. I hope Alaska sends her packing from Juneau, and never lets her have a position of public trust again. I don't think AK has yet comprehended the image hit they tood from Palin. The public image of AK is now corruption, high crime rates, spreading the oil wealth while saying the rest of us are Commies for wanting a tax cut. That part is really bad. Money issues in this economy get looked up by people. She says it is cool in AK to take corporate money and redistribute it, but for the rest of us, even a tax cut is Communism. Think about that for a moment. Her family of millionairs got over 20K from spreding the oil wealth around, yet she says a $1,200 tax cut for me is socialist. That is hypocrisy of a sort that is rare, in that it can be added up and acccounted, a sum of hypocrisy is found that can not be argued for it is a dollar amount.

29. If you paid attention to the way Alaska voted in the big races you would know she's not history
Presidential Election: McCain (despite all of his and Palin's flaws)

Senator: Stevens (despite being convicted in a court just a week or so prior)

If Stevens gets bounced (and he likely will if the conviction sticks) you should fully anticipate Palin tossing her hat in the special election and most likely winning a 4 to 6 year stay in Washington DC.

Anyone who discounts this woman does so at her own peril and if the economy doesn't turn around in 4 years Obama will likely be a one term president. Whether Palin is the one who unseats him is up for debate but if she's not the candidate in 2012 expect to see her again in 2016.

She's keeping herself in the news, and there's got to be a reason for it. She's going to run in 2012, it's just a matter of how soon she announces it, and who she tries to stab in the back in the meantime.
