True or False: Many Republicans like Obama as much as Democrats do...
and want him to succeed? I have heard many Republicans, some very prominent, say that they support Barack Obama.

Granted, it may not be a majority of Republicans but quite a large number, in my opinion, wholeheartedly support Barack Obama. I know it doesn't compute but we are going thru some very heavy political changes in this country.

It is not a complete "post-partisan" exorcism but there are enough to know that there is a change happening in our country. The majority of America wants Barack to be a successful President, including a large number of Republicans. That is something we should not discourage.

1. I think many Republicans are in the anger & bargaining stage of grief.
1. Shock and denial

2. Pain and guilt

3. Anger and bargaining

4. Depression

It will take many years for them to move forward to reconstruction, working through to acceptance and hope.

A few skip right on through; it sounds like the ones you describe who are favorable to Obama will lap the field of those stuck in denial.

6. Why would anyone with a brain want their president to fail?
I never liked Bush but I sure didn't want to see him screw up the country. I would much have preferred him being successful than the miserable failure he is.

Seems pretty nuts to wish failure on your own country.

8. Everyone should be wanting their President to succeed.
Unfortunately there are still those Republicans out there that hope for him to fail, just to feel vindicated in all of the mindless dribble they've been spewing.

These are probably the same ones who continue to support Bush even after all of his atrocities.

I believe they are in the minority and that most at least on some level do want nothing more than for Obama to be a successful President.

After 8 years of Bush, if Obama can even do a fraction of what he's promised, and I believe that he will, I think we're going to see the Republican party shrink even further come 2012.
