To The Group -
Okay, now that it is the day after, allow me to share this. There are several "interesting" aspects that many voters seemed or preferred to "look the other way"...in denial of a grim reality. I'm bothered about - on the surface - small "divergent" details that just don't add-up to a particular whole.
By point of analogy, do you believe little cracks in a dam will ultimately lead to that dam's failure? Consider this.
While I'm happy for Obama; he afterall IS THE BETTER MAN FOR THE JOB of getting this country back together, there nevertheless, is a nagging suspicion in the back of my mind that the
have pulled a fast one. Conservatives, however they are described, are a sneaky bunch, and are not known for their above-the-board dealings. Nor are they known for their sense of equality and justice.
I'm looking at what I term a "little" crack; the passing of Proposition 8 in California of all the states, for example. The success of this flies in the face AGAINST the positive dynamics of hopeful change...the very same dynamics that played a huge part in getting Obama elected, I might stress. You can bet, this is not the end of the issue; this is heading straight to The U.S. Supreme Court in due time. When it does, you can just bet the new President will be dragged into this, forced to take a 'damned if you do,' 'damned if you don't' no-win side.
But, getting back to the Obama Victory. I think he MIGHT have been "set-up" to win. Oh, don't get me wrong. He fought a damn good fight and richly deserved to have won. But I believe the opposition NEVER intended to seriously win the office to begin with. In fact, I think the opposition has made a deal to let any Democratic President walk right into a trap. I believe the out going President has and shall continue to leave a number of booby traps making it virtually impossible for any person to undo the damage in a mere four years...hell, in eight years! Here are two more relatively small "cracks":
A.) Mc Cain picks Palin of all the contenders he could have choosen...virtually guaranteeing his defeat. He would have stood better chance picking Harriet Meirs, for christsakes! !
B.) Mc Cain publicly admitting he didn't know/understand much about economics during some of the most graphic examples of this continuing financial meltdown. Excuse me, but what kind of presidential hopeful would actually admit to that so fourthrightly, and still claim with a straight face that he/she is the best choice for national leadership in a crisis?! Even if true, one doesn't come right out and admit such in public! C'mon now...really! !!!!!!!!!
I sincerely hope I'm wrong about Bush and the GOP this onetime. I hope they will collectively put the good of the nation ahead of their own short-sighted, narrow-minded interests for a change. Time will tell if the dam holds up, however, I for one won't be all that surprised if they don't.
Now, it could be argued that what I've just written holds true for Liberals as well. Okay granted. But all the same, I have my suspicions.
