She's a standout for these sorts of snapshots even among such notoriously non-photogenic republicans as the Bushes and John Bolton.

One of my friends is a retired UPI photog, who covered the integration riots in the south, and many other pivotal events in the sixties and seventies. Several of his '68 Democratic convention shots are well known.

As he told me once, while we were hanging around a photo store one afternoon, "Keeping an eye on what's in the foreground and background, is as important as the subject. Sometimes all you have to do is take a step left or right, and it totally changes things."

I always think about that when I see these. In fact I e-mailed him one of those podium shots, that makes the Boy-King look like Sponge Bob Square Pants!
