Specter...evil bastard to the end on Faux re; Patriot act, the USA issue and Schumer
read the whole thing...here's just a few snippets:

WALLACE: Senator, do you think that the administration used its emergency powers under the Patriot Act to get around sending at least some of the replacements for these U.S. attorneys to the Senate for confirmation? And if so, was that appropriate?

SPECTER: I don't think they did. The provision in the Patriot Act which expanded the attorney general's power was not noticed by anybody, and it was in the conference report for some three months.

It was only when it was put into effect and we saw its harmful application that we saw it was a bad change in law, and Senator Feinstein took the lead, and I have co-sponsored her legislation to change that back.

WALLACE: This week, you said that New York Democratic Senator Schumer — that his role leading the investigation into the U.S. attorneys at the same time that he's running the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee is a conflict of interest. Has he crossed a line here?

SPECTER: I think he has. And I confronted Senator Schumer on it eyeball to eyeball on Thursday in the Judiciary Committee meeting.

But let's look at what the facts are. Senator Schumer is leading the inquiry, and the day after we have testimony about Senator Domenici, he puts his name up on the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, criticizing or really making the argument that he ought not to be re-elected.

Now, I think that the inquiry by the Judiciary Committee ought to have at least a modicum of objectivity, and if Mr. Schumer is doing a job to defeat Senator Domenici, which he is now — that's his job as chairman of the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee — that he puts it up on their Web site the very next day, and then he has made very conclusory and judgmental statements all along.

1. Say, Good Night, Arlen
You have enabled much in the last 6 years which has harmed our country, now you are going
eyeball to eyeball about a possible conflict of interest, where were you when our rights
were being trampled on by warrantless wiretaps which the President admitted to, you were
posturing and later handed Bushco the "store" when it came to covering up prior offenses
and freedom to do more extensive wiretaps.

Say, Good Night, Arlen

4. Let's not forget that Arlen "Mr. Magic Bullet" Specter has a long history of sweeping
shit under the rug for the Rethugs. He hasn't received his REAL reward for that little trick yet. He's laying in wait, & will do their bidding when ever he can.
He's got to put up a good smokescreen sometimes, just to throw the dogs off, but he is a major player.

5. Remember how that little turd washer had to beg and grovel to become
Chairman of the judiciary committee? Slipping in that provision in the Patriot Act, I think was pay back for the appointment, and I think he should be investigated also. That POS.

wonder if Sampson is still loyal to Hatch?

Hatch was forced by term limits to step down as the committee's chairman at the end of the last legislative session. Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Penn.) now heads the committee and appointed Hatch to the subcommittee, which will be responsible for copyright, trademark and patent law, and international treaties intended to protect American IP. It allows Hatch to continue to press the entertainment industry's agenda.

"What the subcommittee does is add another layer, but it doesn't change what happens," said Art Brodsky, communications director at Public Knowledge, a digital rights advocacy agency. "Everybody still recognizes the enormous influence that Mr. Hatch has over IP issues."

The ranking Democrat on the committee, Patrick Leahy of Vermont, has been an ally of Hatch's in the past. The two last year introduced the "Induce Act," which was aimed at peer-to-peer networks but was worded so broadly some said it could outlaw the ubiquitous iPod. It would have held technology companies liable for any product that might "induce" consumers to make illegal copies of IP, such as music, movies or software. The act failed to pass last year and has not been reintroduced this year.

8. Hey Arlen
You might want to get into the 3rd week of March part of the investigation, because you're way behind.

The people behind the firings sure noticed that provision you snuck in, because in the emails released
they say that they want to use that provision to sneak people into the replacements.
