California vote - tell me if I'm reading this wrong.
Actual registered voters at end of October were 17.3 million http://www.sos.ca.gov/admin/press-releases/2008/DB08-104.pdf

Pre-election polls estimated a voter turnout of 13.6 million http://www.mcclatchydc.com/election2008/story/55244.html

From NYT, the presidential vote was around 10.3 million http://elections.nytimes.com/2008/results/states/california.html

Seeing the 'blame' threads on Prop 8 is distressing. Is it possible that a minimum of 3.3 mill. and maximum of 7 mill. didn't go to the polls because the presidential result was already in the bag? If there is any blame to be allocated, should it not go to the millions who were complacent?

2. THAT is why NO results should be discussed by the media until
every poll in the country is closed...

There should be no projecting of who won what state until all the states have finished voting. The West Coast is deprived of some of the value of their votes if they can know who is the winner before they even go to the polls...

4. I agree
I've also looked for more, reliable information than the exit polls and can't find it. My tin-foily head is suspecting that there is a beat-up here that may not really be the truth.

5. i lived in CA for my entire life
until a year ago. whether i already knew i had won or already knew i had lost, i cast my vote. of course that's just me. i'm 53 and can think of at least 2 people off the bat who have never registered let alone vote, and they're both older than me.

3. i don't think we can know
:tinfoilhat:
my money says a lot of it can be explained by republican efforts to steal the election. no facts to back me up but history.
