Obama Apologizes for ‘Seances’ Remark
Updated | 7:20 p.m. President-elect Barack Obama Obama called Mrs. Reagan tonight, reports our colleague Jeff Zeleny, who passed along this statement from the transition team:

“President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan today to apologize for the careless and off-handed remark he made during today’s press conference. The President-elect expressed his admiration and affection for Mrs. Reagan that so many Americans share and they had a warm conversation,” said Stephanie Cutter, transition team spokeswoman.

Now will the idiots find something else to whine about!

3. Nancy Reagan was an astrologer.
It was a different first lady who was the medium for communicating with famous spirits.

10. Nancy Reagan wasn't an Astrologer, she consulted one ...
... Jeane Dixon. Regularly during St. Ronnie's reign.

2. What is wrong with seances? Everyone used a Ouji Board when I was growing up.
I still have mine. We contacted Elvis once. No kidding. The occult was all the rage back in the 1970s.

8. yes
i was just thinking, when i saw the apology, how REFRESHINGLY different Barack is from the soon-to-be-ex-administration.

no "I mispoke".

no "I was quoted out of context".

no "what I meant to say was.."

just a simple apology and an acknowledgement that it was his bad.

what a breath of fresh air.

7. What's Notable Is That Obama Recalled This Bit Of Trivia
I am a political junkie, and about the same age as Obama, and I totally forgot about this little factoid mentioned in some memoirs by Reagan staffers.

14. And she probably laughed when he called! What a charmer
Nancy Reagan is said to have admired Obama and thought he reminded her of her husband. Ron Reagan Jr is a liberal. It was a wise move to engage the grand dame of conservatism in a civil friendly conversation rather than potentially alienating her before he even takes office. Remember those old ladies will be standing next to him at a jillion functions in the next 8 years. They are like the royal family on buckingham palace. gotta keep the peace.

That having been said, I agree with you the comment was funny!

Was Why? Why did he choose to do that? Then I remembered he is Barack Obama, the man I voted for and he is FOR REAL.
