"Mutts like me" -- the single most "American" line of the "transition season?"
Damn -- I forgot what tolerance and inclusion were like!

(Speaking as a kind of "mutt" myself... though aren't we all, really?)

4. I call myself an AmericaMutt on some boards
I have ancestors from the 1st and second trip of the Mayflower, and am an inactive member of the SAR, and from both side of the Civil War, during that time we picked up genes from just about every group that emmigrated, were native to or were dragged here. So yeah, I like mutts :)

6. First, we're all mutts.
Human groups have been interbreeding since time immemorial.

Second, there is the concept of hybrid vigor. A cross between two relatively distant strains often produces a superior offspring in any species.

He found out, that no only are we of Sicilian descent, but we have Spanish, Portuguese, Albanian, North African and German.

This the price one pays when ones family is from a port city. ;)

9. When it comes to dogs, mutts are genetic powerhouses!
As opposed to "pure breds" who have nothing but problems.

Same with us humans.

My mother's family were mostly Celtic and Anglo, my father's are Ashkenazi Jews. I'm 54 years old, run, cycle, can walk forever, have no chronic diseases, cholestrol @ 150, blood pressure really low--well, bottom line is I'm healthy and feel great.

My people were all peasants, field-workers and laborers--not a single aristocrat or blue-blood in the bunch! Something I'm inordinately proud of--and speaks to physical and genetic strength.

13. It came across as gravitas to me
And a bit of caution. But he always speaks hesitantly when weighing questions.

I'm sure he's burdened with the seriousness of what needs to be done. Euphoria's over, time to buckle down.

15. Yes. Cautious and burdened, and soooo tired he must be
If only he could buckle down, and shrub & Co. be prevented from doing any more damage in the interim . But first, our man needs a good night's sleep.

Technically, there are very few mutt humans. Unlike with dogs, there are really only 3 basic human-types: white, black and asian. Native American, for example, is actually asian (although, certainly, differences did amount over time).

Having ancestors from different European/white countries does not make you a mutt. If you breed a Golden Retriever from Ireland and one from South Africa, the off-spring will still be Golden.

That being said, the numbers of true mutt humans are growing (and rightfully so, when you consider the health-benefits - think, opposite of Deliverance).
