They are starting early. I had never heard from him before...
Letter:
Dear (my first name here),
This election season certainly was exciting. It's a testament to the greatness of this country that so many citizens felt it necessary to take part in the democratic process.
Now that the election season is over, it is time for us to get back to work. There are enormous challenges facing us as Kansans and as Americans. In the weeks and months to come, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to hear your thoughts and concerns about the country. I invite you to email me at my website at www.brownback.senate.gov, or calling one of my offices at the numbers listed below. I will be continuing to tour the state in the coming months. You can view my tour schedule on my website as well, and I'd be glad to hear your thoughts in person if I will be coming through your town.
It seems to me that it is no coincidence that one week after we express our choice in electing our leaders, we take a day to honor the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform. Veteran's Day is next Tuesday, and I urge everyone take a moment to express thanks to our Veterans. Without November 11th, November 4th could not have been possible.
As for me, I will be involved in a few different events this weekend and next week. This Sunday, November 9th I will be at the Topeka YMCA at 3635 SW Chelsea Dr at 6:30 p.m. for a Veterans Day Celebration. If you are a military member or veteran, I would be honored if you would come out and join me at this event.
I will also be in Manhattan on next Tuesday the 11th, participating in the Flint Hills Coalition Parade. Approximately 1,000 soldiers from Fort Riley will march in the parade and the commanding general of Fort Riley, Brigadier General Perry Wiggins will also participate in the parade and ceremony. The parade will begin at Manhattan Town Center and travel west along Poyntz Avenue. It will end in Manhattan's City Park, where military vehicles will be available for public viewing. If you live in or close to Manhattan, I'd love to get a chance to shake your hand.
Again, I would just like to invite you to contact me in any way you can. To fix the problems that are facing this country is going to require not only hard work from elected representatives, but the input of Americans just like yourself.
Sincerely,
Sam Brownback
