2. Pickles oversaw a hideous redecoration of the Lincoln bedroom
reportedly featuring a gilt crown, purple velvet and cream lace.

This country has never been a monarchy and will never be one as long as good people can still vote, no matter what that family wants.

That bedroom needs a restoration.

As to a Jetson's remake of the White House or any part thereof, forget it. It would totally violate the period and spirit of the building and look like hell.

5. In fairness to Pickles, the gilded crown was from the Victorian-era WH...
Personally, I've always thought Victorian-era flub-dubs like that were tacky, but, from an historical perspective, it was correct.

7. Please, Michelle, get the crown out of the Lincoln Bedroom!
I'm begging you. I'll take cherubs, anything. But not a crown.

We don't do crowns.

12. It was a relic from the last Gilded Age, you mean
It was the period when the "cottages" in Newport were built with entire rooms disassembled in European castles and reassembled into a hodgepodge of heavily ornate and clashing styles in huge marble monuments to the hubris of rich men who wanted to be aristocrats.

The true hilarity of that period is that the Robber Barons then tried to use those reassembled rooms to impress their original owners. The hereditary aristocrats of Europe were unimpressed, to say the least, and the Robber Barons were left to impress each other with their innate superiority. If you've never done that particular tour, do so, it's a great education in class theory.

Instead of reinstating the Gilded Age, the new owners should restore the style and spirit of the room to its original occupant.

6. As a midcentury furniture collector
I would not mind seeing some modern pieces from Herman Miller, Eames and Cherner in the WH. They are iconic designs. Equally as influental as the older pieces that are used now.

Frank Lloyd Wright designed furniture and cabinets as well. It would be great to see them represented.

9. The Clintons used the work of American craft artists.
I loved that. We have some brilliant people working in glass and wood and metal.

11. I did to.
The WH is America's home so it should be a showcase of all that the Country has to offer.

Just so we don't have anymore gilded crowns in the Lincoln bedroom!
