Ugh... double-edged sword for now.
After a long day of listening to an office full of right-wingers mouth off about how Obama will ban their guns, tax their ammunition, raise their income tax and rape their first born (OK, so the last one isn't true, but you get the picture), I decided to get my hair cut.

I have been going to the same woman to get my hair cut for years. The building used to be owned by a national chain, but after getting a job at the chain, she eventually bought the building and equipment, and started her own business. She is a Korean woman.

As I pulled into the parking lot, I was happy to see the place was uncharacteristically empty, since I was in a hurry, but as I parked, another vehicle pulled in, a man jumped out, and he beat me to the door.

I sat in the waiting area and she escorted him to the chair to begin his haircut. The first words out of his mouth were "So I know you must not have liked the outcome of the election eh? I know I didn't!" She replied with "No, you're right about that!" Now, being Korean, she is hard to understand sometimes, but I heard her mumble something about "Did you see the rally on TV for Obama? It was all black people, no white people." To which the dope in the chair responded with "He's going to take our money and give it all away to them."

I was so close to walking out at that point... so close.

After the weasel had received his haircut and left, I took my place in the chair and she asked me the inevitable question... "Who did you vote for?" Not wanting to be confrontational I skirted the question a bit, but she persisted, so I told her I voted for Obama. She let out a sigh and then asked "Why?".

Now... I knew that she was a religious person, because she always has a radio playing in the building and it's tuned to christian talk radio, so my reply was "Because he's a highly educated, well spoken, christian family man."

That threw her a bit, so she went off into a speech about how Bush has had it SO hard during his presidency, what with the economy, the natural disasters, and the war. I was glad that I hadn't eaten, because I would have vomited on her floor.

I don't know... I suppose at $15 for the hair cut, plus a $3.00 tip for five to six minutes of work, she might make over $250,000 a year...

After enduring a day like that, I drove home and turned on the local evening news, only to hear that a business owner from a very small town just down the road from my house had turned his American flag upside down and was flying it at half mast. The idiots even interviewed him (Faux news affiliate). His bullshit statements were along the lines of "The flag flying in such a manner is a sign of distress and that is exactly what the democrats we elected will do to this country... put it in distress."

So... around these parts, Obama's victory has been a double-edged sword.

It's been a long day... and tomorrow I have to put my best friend of over ten years down. Ugh...

Sorry about the rant... thanks for reading.

2. I think it is illegal to fly the flag upside down unless it is a real emergency.

4. I think she charges too much.
She shouldn't charge more than $10 if she's going to foul the air with oppressive political talk.

5. I have known several Korean Americans who are one issue voters!
Some Koreans and Korean Americans are very evangelical "christian" and that is the issue that beats all others. If you look at Asia, Korea seems to be the one country that has been the most infected by the evangelicals. :(
