What does President-Elect Obama owe and who does he owe it to?

What promises did Obama make? He promised to reduce taxes on the middle class and to raise them on those in the highest bracket and corporations. He promised to end the war in Iraq in a judicious manner. He also said he'd increase troops in Afghanistan. He promised to invest in a green economy. He promised to reach out to other countries and talk to our purported enemies.

1. President Obama owes the American people who elected him.

He may not be able to keep all of his promises but I would be happy if he keeps half of them.

2. He owes the Unions quick passage of the Employee Free Choice Act.

That's all I'm personally interested in.

4. Congress has to do that, but he surely won't veto it..

that is the critical piece that's been missing.

3. He owes it to us..

to use his natural talents and abilities to bring us together, so that we can finally find workable solutions to the real problems that face us.

He owes it to all of us to find ways where we can all agree to move forward and get past the wars that we've been fighting for the past 40 years.

He owes it to us to use the goodwill he has been given around the world to rebuild our diplomatic relations from the ground up.
