...that's actually 3,216 American soldiers now dead in that war. According to Iraq Body Count, there have been between 59,082 and 64,916 recorded Iraqi civilian noncombatants killed during that time. (Keep in mind that this source tends to be conservative in its reporting of civilian deaths -- other sources have placed the figure much higher.) And, while I mean no disrespect to our troops, they at least had the chance to volunteer for military service in the first place, unlike these civilians who had no say in when and how our Commander-in-Chief chose to unleash hell on their families and their land.
