A statement of pity for John McCain.
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 11:38 AM by YOY
I come not to bury John McCain but to give him a bit of praise and pity...as I have said before no pity until Nov 5th. The 5th is here. Not a ton but a little bit.

Oh John, if you were but the same man you claimed and seemed to be in 2000. If you had but beat the Chimp we might have a different image of you. If that John McCain didn't kowtow to the dipshit Rovites running his campaign and really ran on being a decent hardworking former POW who has worked hard to push a moderate Republican agenda instead of fumes and jingo with a rehash of Bush-shit. If only you didn't follow the Shrub like a good marine and stuck up for what is right because the facts say so.

John, you're truly an American Hero. You've been a POW and probably have suffered more for a stupid war than any of us ever will. Of this there is no doubt. But as a green muppet with Frank Oz's hand up his ass put it "wars do not make one great". Your POW status truly is admirable. I will never deny you this. That you at one point in time thought you were doing what was best for this country I have no doubt either.

It's a shame that your experience didn't affect you like it did to Jack Murtha. Money can change people and nodding yesmen are tough to put off when everyone around you calls them experts. It's a shame you showed some really poor judgement (and one shining moment of putting a crazy old racist loon in her place) in your campaign.

John McCain. I do not nor will I ever foreseeably hate you. You've some good traits in you.

As for pity for Mrs. Palin...f*** no. Not one drop. She can go f*** a moose and take care of her grandkids. Fucking fundies suck. Always have sucked and alway will suck no matter what religion they twist into their beliefs.

1. No pity for McCain here. He's a slimeball who stooped at

nothing to win, including jeopardizing the future of this country through his vice-presidential choice. Fuck him.

Was it really him or did he put all the control in his campaigners?
Poor judgement at least what you claim at worst.

At any rate not presidential.

10. He hired the same slime buckets who trashed him in 2000
after he promised to run a clean campaign. So, I join you in having no pity for him.

2. Hey, we're the liberals
His speech last night was great. It made me wonder how things would have been different if he'd been himself instead of a Rove-hate-and-fear-and-smear machine. I hope he goes back to the real McCain and helps us clean up the a-hole's mess.

I hope Caribou Barbie disappears into oblivion and takes Joe the Plumber with her.

12. It was strangely devoid of emotion though..
the words were powerful and emotional, but that's not the way he delivered them. Perhaps he had already had time to grieve over his loss since it seemed pretty inevitable for about a month or so. Or perhaps he was just spent of any emotion at that point, maybe a little bit of both. At any rate, he was a thoroughly beaten man. I'm glad he's not our President, he just didn't have it in him.

5. And that is the point I made.
His party destroyed him. He let them do it. Poor judgement and not a maverick.

9. I'd have said the same thing if she were a male
Pointing out her horrible policies shouldn't be a deletable event, but I don't consider my statement sexist at all.

8. He deserves some pity
He is a war hero. He has served his country well in the past. However, he is a man of severe character flaws.

His time in Congress is an ode to helping the powerful. He learned nothing from the savings and loan crisis such that he supported legislation which helped create our present mess. And he has been an ardent proponent of deregulation.

He deserves pity because he allowed Bush to screw him over many times...

1. The 2000 campaign

2. On torture Bush forced McCain to compromise his principles on torture allowing the CIA to do it...

3. Bush created an impossible situation by his mismanagement of everything.

4. Bush gave his political tactics to McCain which were Rovian in style and helped assure his defeat in 2008.

And is a sad man because so often he just did not get it...

He wanted to be president so much he forgot what it took to be a leader -- to stand alone -- make the right hard choices for America...that he sold his soul...to Bush.

to a certain extent I suppose that's true.
