1. Probably never
Though I'll bite. I love her and her usual style. I wasn't a fan last night. Though I did love that they kept the color all in the black and red family!

67. The four of them
When you look at all four of them, the dress makes more sense.

At first, I really didn't like it, but then when I saw them all together from left to right - Barack, in black, the youngest next to him in black, the oldest next to Michelle in red, and then Michelle in red and black - I liked the dress better. They were dressed as a "family".

26. That's what I thought.
But it was just my mind trying to justify something so wrong.

On the plus side, I think there are designers across the country and around the world that do not want to see this happen ever again. (Maybe it was a cry for help.)

43. I will
it ended up being a bad choice. I am sure she has already heard from her friends and is certainly aware it was not the best choice for far away shots. Maybe it looked better in the mirror, but on far camera shots, nope, it did not work for that.

I would want someone to tell me if something I was wearing looked weird or bad. It is like having a booger hanging from your nose...someone needs to speak up and TELL you for God's sake! Don't let me walk out to talk to people that way. I wonder if she had anyone putting their two cents in ahead of time on this choise.

I have clothing too that looked good when I tried it on and bought it, but looked completely different later. Maybe this is the case here.

57. Good question
I didn't dare comment last night for fear of being flamed. First ladies typically go through a period of fashion makeovers until they find a style that best suits them. I'm really looking forward to seeing Michelle's fashions as first lady.

BTW - I really don't like black satin clothes on children...too much like mourning attire. :hide:

and she looked great last night, and it was wonderful the way she was color-coordinated with her daughters. That said...it's not the dress I would have chosen. Then again, I've never been known as anything even closely approximating "fashion forward"..."L.L. Bean Poster Child" was my fashionable mother's nickname for me.
