1. It is impossible for him to bring balance back to the Supreme Court.
The conservative majority will be there for decades.

All he can do is replace the very, very old liberals and moderates with the same.

2. Supreme court, definitely.
of all those things you cite, the one that the crazy-assed fundie nutballs are most concerned about is having a path to stacking the SCOTUS with extremists closed off.

They really thought their time had come, since in the next four years it was almost certain that at least two Justices would either die or become incapacitated due to age.

I am confident that Obama will think of the nation's future and nominate Justices who are not only wise and decent, but relatively young.

The UN ambassadorship needs to be particularly well chosen, after all the damage John Bolton had done to America's image. Pick somebody diplomatic and sensitive to other cultures for a change of pace.
