Mc Cain took 66% of the vote in Oklahoma and won by the highest margin in the US.

2. Alienation is not intended or necessary

I did not say that the wind blew gently out EVERYONES ASS, only that it blew gently out 66% of everyone elses ass.

ON the lighter side, I do know how hard it is to change a red area to a blue one. Our little town was historicaly hardcore republican, and it would be today, if not for the bush administration. It was lots and lots of hard work, but it went blue within the city limits. Still pretty red in the county however.

One question though:

"thanks for alienating those of us in Oklahoma who aren't crazed Republican zealots."

How could my comment be even remotely understood as welcoming crazed Republican zealots, and "alienating" democrats? Nice straw man though.

4. Because
I am actually proud of my state most of the time. I know that my state's politics really stink. It's kind of like someone else calling your sister ugly...it's ok when you do it but no one else better say anything about her moles, dammit!

6. actually, I had that exact experience with my brother
He was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash .... closed head injury and coma, and his recovery was less than perfect.

I was in more than one shouting match because of some of the things he would do because of his injury. Most folks did not know that was the case, they merely thought he was retarded or something.

3. give oklahoma a break..............
My little county in Texas borders Oklahoma.

Local results were McCain-78%, Obama-22%.

From here Oklahoma looks blue.

5. We saw that, Mr Bill
from up here in Cleveland County. We tried mightily hard, but we Okies have a long tradition of being mouthbreathers. I apologize for my state, but a LOT of people here that I thought would be for McCain whispered to me secretly that they voted Obama instead. We have much work to do, and with a great Dem governor like Brad Henry and an amazing President like Barack Obama, we can turn the tide, person by person. Our work has just begun, and includes being gracious winners to set an example by contrast of how different things will be now as compared to what things have been like the last 8 years.

After Obama starts fixing our country's problems one by one, I think you'll see the grudging respect accorded Clinton by some Oklahomans (pre-blowjob), only magnified 1000-fold once they see for themselves what kind of character and intelligence Obama brings to the table. It won't happen overnight, but I consider it to be a large part of the work I have cut out for me now. I believe this will be a new era, and many who have been indoctrinated will slowly start to see what we see in Obama.
