12. Why spend a $1000 on an expensive MUTT when you can rescue a mutt?
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 12:16 AM by haruka3_2000
"Designer" dog breeds are sickening.

If someone wants a hypoallergenic dog, a poodle is hypoallergenic and a rescued poodle will cost way less than a sick puppy mill bred designer mutt.

21. I'm sorry, if I'm opposed to spending lots of money on puppy mill mutts
It's unhealthy for the dogs and takes away from dogs waiting to be put down that need homes.

You respond to my posts as if I've proposed something THAT I HAVE NOT proposed. Your posts read like hectoring ... UNNECESSARILY. It's usually polite and rational to find out whether someone 'needs' to be lectured BEFORE lecturing them.

(1) I'm an activist against puppy mills. I'm also against shopping mall pet shops. I STRONGLY recommend breeders and breed rescue and humane society ... based on the characteristics of the FAMILY.
(2) The Obama household has children under age 12 ... and I typically recommend rescues for families without young children. In my view, that's RATIONAL.
(3) Allergies are NOT trivial. Thus, some restrictions apply. Poodles, schnauzers, etc. ... dogs with hair, not fur.

So, please try to identify the 'enemy' before you start firing your guns. Zeal is no excuse for misdirected antagonism.

41. I never said allergies were trivial
But rather than getting a designer mutt, there are legitimate breeds that are hypoallergenic, and rescue organizations for those breeds.

If someone isn't going rescue, then it's important to get a dog from a reputable breeder. There is no such thing as a reputable breeder for designer mutts.

how about a border collie? It's hard working and that is going to be the theme of the first four years.

There were about twise as many listed as the one I used, so I am sure there are many other suitable dogs than the ones I listed.

49. Ouch...
I am in favor of them getting a darker black and tan or a jet black one.

A white one? I can't look at one and not think about the best dog I ever had. He was the real deal. The white ones are better pets, I don't know why except I don't think they get bred as heavily because they're "flawed".
