Another church billboard.
I've been reading how some of the messages from church leaders are crossing the lines, particularly the post about the Catholic Bishop who claimed that voting for Obama would jeopardize eternal salvation. I'm wondering if a nearby church has also crossed the line. First thing you should know is that the church is a voting precinct. And outside on its billboard, one side read, "We Reap What We Sow," and the other side says, "Live every day as if everything you do will eventually be known to everyone."

Knowing how some people are completely bonded to their churches, do you all think that someone could take this to mean that their vote is not going to be kept a secret forever, and even if the community doesn't find out, about it, God will know?

1. in that scenario, then, i'd be a lot more comfortable with The Almighty knowing
i voted for man of peace who wants to see our country and its citizens prosper than some tired-assed friend of the rich man who'll declare war the first time someone overwseas farts too loud.

2. It really does depend on what the church has been saying prior to this week.
Last week it was advertising a series to discuss who should be president. You got to wonder.

3. A completely paraniod delusional could take it to mean that.
Most people wouldn't, though.

4. No, it's just an allusion to judgment day. I think this is way too deep a reading. On the other hand
I saw a billboard today at a church that was also a polling place that said "Vote justice and compassion." Which was awesome.

5. They are reaping what they sow in my family...
My mother in law left her non denominational church of 25 years when instructed she had to vote for McSame or be damned in the afterlife. Voted Straight Democratic in Michigan this morning.

My formerly Republican mother was informed by the bishop she should make the moral choice this election day and she did. Voted Straight Democratic in Illinois.

I could not be more proud of them.

7. he is not paranoid, and you are not cool
Religiousity is a mental illness, and the mere thought that Gawd knows how you vote would be enough to keep those feeble-minded freaks from ever developing a conscious.

9. Certainly, people who rely on a middle man to tell them how to
think are susceptible to these manipulations. It's not wrong to have faith, but you put yourself in a vulnerable position when you assume your deacon or priest is closer to God, than you are.

15. This is especially true if one ignores objective truth to favor superstition
Another flaw in religious studies is that they read the bible from a pre-determined viewpoint. They know Abraham is holy ahead of time, so when they read about the really shitty things Abraham did, they are forced to either rationalize morality, or to abandon their faith.

Over time, we wind up with the hideous religious people of today. Everything is rationalized into nonsense, and all evidence is cast aside when it challanges "faith". Any and all means, including the most grevious sins, become justified by the end.

10. It is only the beginning.
Today, if Obama wins, it will open the door for people to come forth and tell their stories.

11. At a local store today, my husband was asked by an employee there
if he had voted. My husband said "Yes". The man asked did you
give your vote for Obama? My husband said well I sure did.
The man then said well you just gave your vote to
the antichrist. My husband said 'excuse me'? The man said
"Yeah read Revelations, Obamas the antichrist."
My husband said," I think you need to re-read Revelations, the
bible doesn't say if it is a man or a woman. Buddy I'll tell
you who would be the antichrist here, it would be Sarah Palin!"

We don't believe Revelations as aliteral, we are Christian, but
we have a different take on it.

County has opened my eyes.
