General William T. Sherman
I am from the South, and I know all the horrors that name can conjure up.
When this election is over, I hope the Republican Party looks like it was
tromped on by something that makes Sherman look like he came from Amnesty
International. I AM NOT talking about physical harm, but I want that party
in ruins. I hope they have to meet in a pup tent. (The lawsuit did it.)

3. Reallly?
How so?

I'm waiting for that book about him, "Southern Storm"...on hold at the library, but it's taking so long I might just have to get it myself. I'm from the south and I like General Sherman too.

4. My mother and his mother were Hoyts.
Back in the 1800s they used to have big family reunions and he gave an address at one (I have it printed in a book). My first ancestor in this country was a Hoyt who arrived in 1628 (I am the 12th generation). My guess is that I may be related to many hundreds of thousands of people in this country.

Ironically, my mother and I are from the North and my father was from Mississippi.

There are some great quotes about how Sherman felt about war (particularly the full "war is hell" quote).

I've been to the home of his birth in Lancaster.

Did not suffer fools gladly.
