Poll question: When will Obama reach 270 and be declared the winner?
All times PM Eastern Standard Time. If you live west of, say, Ohio, then you'll have to subtract some time.

4. Officially, Hawaii will put Obama over the top at 11:00PM
During the 10PM hour I expect Obama to be around 204 Electoral Votes, which is enough to win when you add in CA, OR, WA and HI. I also expect some earlier states will not have reported yet (OH, FL, CO, NM, IA).

At 11PM the media will call CA for Obama, moving him to 259, then Oregon = 266 and then Hawaii gets the honor of putting the first Hawaiian-born president in the White House as its 4 EV push Obama to 270.

6. He'll be declared winner before he reaches 270.
He'll be declared winner when it becomes obvious that he'll get 270. So, say, if he wins FL, VA, PA, and NC, they'll declare.

No need to wait until California closes.
