The latest right wing tactic is spreading today...
Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 06:37 PM by misanthrope
...Riots.

My wife has heard the talk amongst her rabid conservative colleagues for months that riots will break out on Tuesday.

A friend e-mailed me to say his sister-in-law north of Montgomery AL has been told not to show up on Wednesday morning, that the owner is keeping his children home from school and expects his employees to do the same. Why? To protect them from the riots that will erupt from "them" whether Obama wins or loses.

I'm hearing things on the Intra-Webs, seeing stuff posted on sites where conservatives are sending word forth for all "hard working Americans" to gird their loins and ready their weapons to protect their material belongings and loved ones from the inevitable chaos they assure will ensue on Tuesday night.

While we are showing enough ugliness for the world to get a good glimpse of the savage heart that beats beneath much of this nation, oh that outsiders were privy to the conversations we all hear, the things not voiced with media. America is so divided and willful in that effort and it's mighty disgusting.

1. Only McCain, Palin, and their supporters are violent...
Crazy, and violent... a very bad combination.

More fear. They love them some fear, don't they? They are addicted to it now.

20. I told my wife that if anyone seemed prone to violence...
...it's the caucasian knuckle draggers who comprise their base.

4. They have such ugliness in them.
And they project it onto everyone else.

If I had to put money on it, I'd say this election's gonna go through peacefully and lawfully, and Barack Obama will be declared the winner before midnight Eastern time.

15. Peaceful, yes, but I disagree with the timeframe...
...on declaration of victory. Every vote will have to be counted before this is over.

14. That's only the "white" ones...
...The right wingers feel the darker population is always ready to riot given the slightest provocation. It goes back to their internalized beliefs of African-Americans as "more savage."

9. Notice that even the Freeps are conceding the win?
Why would there be riots unless Obama won? Do they think there will be riots if he loses? Their logic, as always, is flawed.

13. What they're saying...
...Riots if he loses.

Riots if he wins (along the lines of the junk you see when knuckleheads crowd the streets following a sports victory).

17. Provided they don't win after the initial count...
...I think, the GOP will give a clinic on how to scrap over disputed results. Every second of every day, they will use every tactic at their disposal until inauguration. These people will stop at nothing.

It's like deja vu from the primaries. And we all know how that turned out.

19. It might strike you as deja vu...
...but the general electorate is far different than the voters who pulled levers in the Dem primary.
