I just got an email from a good friend - neither of us live in Alaska - that I thought I would pass along to you all.....
Ted Stevens, corrupt, evil, senior senator from Alaska of "bridge to nowhere" fame, was convicted last week of seven felonies. He's still running for senate and, remarkably (or maybe not), he still has a good shot at winning.
So here's the GOP's preferred scenario: he wins, and then steps down, forcing a special election. In that, guess who the GOP runs? That's right, Sarah Palin. In that scenario, the GOP holds the seat, and worse, gives Sarah Palin a seat in DC from which to bolster her chances in 2012.
Please help me prevent that nightmare scenario. Mark Begich, the Democratic mayor of Anchorage, is the Democratic candidate. He's ahead, but only slightly, in the polls.
