Money to be spent in GA, ND, **ARIZONA**
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — In a bold move brimming with confidence, Democrat Barack Obama broadened his advertising campaign on Friday into two once reliably Republican states and further bedeviled rival John McCain by placing a commercial in the Republican presidential nominee's home state of Arizona.

Obama's campaign, capitalizing on his vast financial resources and a favorable political climate, announced that it was going back up with advertising in Georgia and North Dakota, two GOP states that it had teased with ads earlier in the general election campaign but then abandoned.

1. Somebody explain something to me
I thought that e-mail from the campaign a day or two ago insinuated that the campaign was running out of money, and asking for more. Could it be that they are flush with cash, and just want to make people think the money is running low, so as to keep the dollars rolling in?

2. I got that same email
It was definitely very carefully worded to be truthful, yet make you think McCain was suddenly about to outspend them, and they were running out of money.

It used a few states of examples of where contributions have dropped, but in reality, the trend is still way up.

I was a bit miffed about that. But then, it WAS from a CFO, and we all know what crafty fucking assholes those guys usually are.

4. Obama could win AZ.
AZ isn't the hard-core red state it used to be, and just like everywhere else, people here are in a throw-the-bums-out kind of mood this year.

6. Obama needs a huge mandate, not just a win.
I would be happy with a win, but with the challenges before he a huge mandate in the popular vote would help him in meeting those challenges. JFK won, but was accused of not really having a mandate. Times are far worse now and he is going to need everything he can muster to meet those challenges.
