Besides President, what contests are you most interested in?
Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 10:10 AM by soleft
I'll be staying up real late to see what happens with Prop 8 in California, also the equivalent prop on ballot in Florida.

Other than that, I'd really like to see Franken win, and i want Hagen to kick Dole's butt. I would say wrinkly butt, but she's probably had it botoxed.

26. My pick: the CO-5 race and a Colorado Springs state Senate race
wherein Pete Lee, nice guy (D) is running against complete jackass Keith King (R) who is trying to get back into politics after quitting once Dems. took over the state government. If a Democrat can win that highly conservative seat, that will be yet another kick in the nuts for the Colorado Repubs. And Pete Lee really deserves it.

3. The Senate races in NC, MN, GA and KY. The House races in...
FL-18, FL-21 and FL-25. The state House race in FL-91. Florida Amendment 2 (and, by extension, CA's Prop. 8). That's about the extent of it.

Also the race between Bachmann and her opponent. And I would really like to see the scum Saxby Chambliss get beaten in Georgia.

32. Yes, using a despicable ad questioning Cleland's
patriotism and Americanism, after Cleland lost THREE limbs in Vietnam. Chambliss is the worst of a bad lot as far as I'm concerned, and I hope he gets what he deserves in this election.

15. Legalization of Marijuana in Texas
Well, I can dream, can't I?

Legalize, regulate and tax it. That alone would go a long way to helping us dig out of our deficit.

Looks like it will pass. I don't have a problem with legalizing it completely but sometimes it takes baby steps to get somewhere.

30. That's right
And once people get accustomed to medical marijuana and see that it's not the end of the world, we can press for wider access.

California has a really good medical marijuana program and this shows that it can be successful.

16. Maryland has two prop's on the ballot this year.
Prop 1 - Allow for early voting (2 weeks, I think).

Prop 2 - Allow slots (gambling) in Maryland at five predetermined locations.

No Senate races this year in MD.

23. Colorado's 4th district, CO 48 (bans all abortion), CA prop 8
I'm also excited about the Udall/Schaffer (*pfth*) race, but that's not even close anymore.

There are some great propositions on the Colorado ballot that I've been watching really closely, and trying to nudge my coworkers' opinions on. I'm sure that the teevee will tell me about issues on other states' ballots.

27. Ca prop 8, all the senate races, Bachmann vs Tinklenberg
I want to see if CA will be fooled by 7 and 10 as well. Mostly I'd like to be there at the moment when all the talking heads realize that we're on the crest of a historic wave, and then watch all the Republicans scrambling as it breaks on their heads.

28. I'm interested in MI Supreme Court
We have a justice up for re-election and it could really change the make up of our court. A study (I think by U of Chicago) said our court was the most partisan in the country. There are 4 conservative Republicans (the gang of 4), a moderate Republican (who publicly called the justice up for election on his improper behavior), and 2 liberal Democrats on the court. The Democrat judge has a small lead 21% to 20% but most people are undecided. I think it's unlikely for the Democratic candidate to win since the other candidate is listed as the incumbent and is on the "non-partisan" ballot.
