I give up!!!
I give up. I won't watch Rachel Maddow again until after Nov. 4. I enjoyed her when she substituted for Keith Olbermann, and was really happy when she got her own show. However, as many other DUer's have commented, she's too much of a 'Debby Downer' for me to take right now. I just got through watching a very late re-run of Tweety where he had part of her interview with Barak, and Tweety asked her if she could 'feel that Florida was moving towards Obama'. Her response was a bath of cold water - No, she didn't feel it and by the way, McLame could very well win Florida'.

I understand the argument that she plays the Devil's Advocate to 'keep us from getting complacent', but I don't buy it. I rather think someone hit the nail on the head when they (correctly in my opinion) called her a Worrywart. A little of this goes a long way just now, and after having suffered like many of us through the past eight years and two elections where I believe we were robbed at the last minute, I'm not in the mood for any soul-searching to find reasons why McNasty may win. I'll watch her after the election, but from now until Nov. 5, no more.

 :wtf:

2. Seriously, how many of these threads do we need?
Why does every single person who doesn't like Rachel Maddow's show find it necessary to go starting their own thread about it.

People don't all like the same things. I find Randi Rhodes pretty much unlistenable. So, I don't listen to her. I don't go starting threads about it all the time.

What gives here?

12. What gives is that RM is deflating the hope that Obama gives us
We're free to turn the channel on Rachel Maddow, and you're free not to read the threads about her.

It's a system that works to satisfy everybody.

5. It's times like these that I'm glad I ditched cable/satellite TV.
6:30 evening news gives me all I need to know. Well, that and the internets.

6. The reason so many people believe we were robbed at the last minute in 04
is because they refused to listen to the people at the time who were pointing out that Bush had risen in the polls at the last minute and that there was a strong undercurrent of voters who didn't like Bush but planned to vote for him anyway because they were afraid of terrorists and wars and all that stuff.

Maddow is smarter and more informed than you. And me, and most of us here. She deserves to be listened to. If she's wrong, good for us. If she's right, it's a wake-up call that we need to quit patting ourselves on the back and get out there and work our butts off. Some of us like realism more than fantasy. Others not so much. Choose your poison, ignore Maddow if you want, but don't go acting like she's not one of the few honest, objective analysts on tv. If both sides had more people like her, our debates would be held at a lot higher level than they are now, and that's a good thing, even if it isn't always as pretty as we want it to be.

Just my opinion. :)

8. You had a need to set up a thread to tell all of us your viewing plans?
I don't care about what you watch on television.

13. OK, I'm with you. I'll only read, watch or...
listen to those who happily predict sunshine and roses on Election Day.

So, no TV, no radio, no magazines, no newspapers until it's over.

Just Happy News from the internet.
