1. Yes
felt it today when a friend, a lifelong Republican, came up to me and said, "I voted for Obama. For the first time in my life I felt I was voting FOR someone rather than choosing the lesser of two evils. I feel Obama will be the greatest President in my lifetime."

3. Eastern or western Kansas?
Edited on Thu Oct-30-08 07:58 PM by patrice
It took about 30 minutes here in eastern Kansas. Many children in line with parents. Everyone was happy and chatty, a little unusual for us. I talked about the Electoral College with folks ahead and behind us in line. We also all agreed it should be a national holiday.

When I got into the room with the voting machines, Did have one guy goin' moderately off about having to vote on a machine. He wanted paper. A poll worker took him to see what could be done about his complaint. They probably offered him a provisional ballot.

Important issues on the ballot: electing judges/rather than appointing them, bond proposals, not only for public schools, but also for a big economic project focused on research & education.

:hi:

13. Great that she appreciates what an event this election is. Other than the federal deficit...
I was politically unaware when I was her age. I mean we talked politics at home all the time but I hadn't really done any thinking on my own at the time. Come to think of it, when I was 18 I was depressed with no working memory so how could I have thought anything through.

Good for your daughter!

11. I tried to vote last night in Overland Park, but there was a 2 hour wait.
I was tired from working all day, and just wanted to get home and crash. I'll try again Friday night or on Saturday.

12. Why isn't he doing better there? As Gov. Sebelius pointed out last night, he has Kansas roots.
the first candidate since, I believe, Eisenhower who can say that.

15. Eastern here, voted Wednesday.
30 minute wait. At least we got a choice of paper or Diebold. No one was choosing the Diebold while I was there. Everyone wanted paper.
