5. Early night: results from EST states VA, FL, PA will seal the deal
Of course I'm on the West Coast so I expect to have a pretty good idea of how the night will go as early as 6:00 PM local time

7. depending on how many states end up extending their voting hours, could be a relatively late night
There is a move to get Virginia to extend voting hours until as late as 10 pm. If that was to succeed, the networks wouldn't be able to call VA until 10 pm and I doubt that they'll call the election before VA has finished voting.

Here's a question: in the past there has been controversy over the networks calling a national election while the polls are still open on the west coast. However, as I recall, the networks take the position that they will call individual states as the polls in those states close. If the electoral total from states that have voted exceeds the magic number, they'll call the whole election even if west coast states are still voting.

13. I think it will be official...
...as of about 11pm Central. It may be a foregone conclusion by then, but that's when 270 will be surpassed.

they will drag it out as long as possible...the networks won't disclose poll numbers until after midnight in key states.

21. Mark my words: I really think it's going to be both. I think that.....
...it's going to start out with overwhelming good news for Obama but by later in the evening I really feel like the Republican machine is going to be hip-deep in dirty tricks, stalling. I think by the morning of Nov. 5th there will be two different types of TV stations: Those who are running with Obama has been elected and those like Fox which will be pushing the "uncertainty" meme including "Oh, you can't count your chickens before they're hatched!"

I feel that the Repigs will very likely try to cast a pall over Election day festivities in any way possible.

I expect two things: That the Repig dirty tricks machine will be in high gear and that the Repig nut cases will be in Heaven's Gate mode.

26. not late, PA and VA results should be in somewhat early
And FL and OH and IN.

Too many states can put Obama over 270 for it to go very late.
