Sent it to my Father:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/platform.aspWanna buy a bridge?
Father called me not ten minutes later. He didn't get it...he thought the bridge comment was a joke...but he didn't click on the link.
So I explained to him.
He replied with, "Yeah...but it's funny."
I said, "Fine if you think it's funny...but it's a lie. Bill Cosby didn't ever say that."
"But you gotta admit it's funny."
"It didn't even get a grin from me....and it's still a lie. And you know what you are when you forward a lie, Dad?"
"What's that?"
"A liar Dad."
"It was just an attempt at humor"
"Dad...what part are you having a problem with? You forwarded a lie. That makes you a liar. You don't want to be a liar. So...let's try this again. Do you want to be a liar Dad?"
"No"
"Then check snopes before sending out something that could be a lie. And a tip...99% of the stuff that comes in that sort of format...is a lie."
"Okay".
Apparently when I hit reply all...it went to my Dad's entire side of the family...who I love and I am very close to...but are all conservatives.
So...the next few days should be interesting.
